Affordable
Among all 50 states, New York had the fourth highest percentage of renters, nearly half, with housing costs above the affordability threshold in 2017. More than 1/4 of renter households paid at least 50% of household income – a level the Census Bureau describes as “severely housing cost burdened.”*

Supportive
Having a home to call your own is a critical pillar to independent living. CSD’s partner agencies provide the highest quality case management and supportive services designed to facilitate independent living for those dealing with physical, mental health, addiction or other challenges to independence.
Many residents of supportive housing have been formerly homeless or at risk of homelessness. Supportive housing is a proven way to decrease homelessness, as well as the use of tax-payer funded crisis services including hospitalizations, emergency departments and jails.
Senior
According to the New York State Office for the Aging, by 2040 it is projected that over 20% of the population will be 65 years or older, making it currently the fastest growing age group.
Senior Living Communities provide comforts of home, a commitment to enhancing quality of life, and personal care services in a support environment that promotes aging in place.
